Our Mission
The Shepherd’s Light Foundation is a nonprofit 501c3 dedicated to supporting veterans and first responders who are dealing with PTS(d) and personal struggles. Our mission focuses on offering hope and healing through peer-to-peer journeys, with a strong emphasis on a faith-based approach rooted in hope in Christ. Our goal is to cultivate a brighter future for those we assist by guiding them on their journey to recovery, empowering these individuals to flourish once more, and establishing a supportive community that recognizes their distinct challenges.
Our Values
At Shepherd’s Light Foundation, we believe in the power of community and the transformative strength of faith. We’re dedicated to uplifting veterans and first responders facing PTS(d) and personal struggles, providing them with support, understanding, and a safe space to heal together. Our values of compassion, respect, and hope in Christ guide every step we take. Together, we create lasting connections that foster recovery and remind our heroes that they are never alone on their journey, as we walk alongside them in faith and support.
The Program
The Shepherd’s Journey provides peer-to-peer retreats in the outdoors, anchored in a Christ-centered foundation of hope. In a private and stress free setting, participants are guided to process past experiences, find clarity in purpose, and experience peace in the quiet of nature. Fellowship forms naturally as brothers connect through shared struggles and victories, forging trust and accountability.
Through peer leadership, each participant is encouraged to grow in discipline, faith, family, and leadership, stepping into their role as a man of purpose and integrity.
Shepherd’s Light Foundation removes financial barriers by fully sponsoring every participant. Training, meals, and lodging are completely covered so each man can focus solely on healing, growth, and discovering the calling God has placed on his life.
Our Guiding Principles
Our team possesses a distinctive capability to engage with participants of Shepherd’s Light Journey, as each instructor has personally faced adversity and challenges through their service to our communities and country. Having navigated experiences of loss, brokenness, anxiety, depression, family separations, and the impacts of Post-Traumatic Stress (both from service and domestic situations), the instructors can relate to the students on a peer level, facilitating open communication between participants and instructors. Together, we cultivate a secure environment for healing and support to empower our heroes to take back control of their lives, promoting resilience and a renewed sense of purpose.
